Hallway Artwork
How do you choose the artwork that gets hung in the hallway?
I choose the artwork that goes in the hallways here at Gayton. Generally, when a grade level finishes a project, I go through and choose projects that catch my eye. I do not look at names until AFTER I have chosen the artwork. I usually choose 10-20 pieces to put on display. The 2 major things I look for are:
I hope that this clears up any confusion. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email.

I do not look at names until AFTER I have chosen the artwork. I usually choose 10-20 pieces to put on display. The 2 major things I look for are:
- Is the artwork finished? If a child has missed a day in art, that is understandable and I give them as much time as I can for them to finish, but at some point, we need to move on. Usually all the projects get finished, but sometimes I have students who do not finish for other reasons. If the artwork is not complete, I cannot hang it in the hallway.
- Does the artwork show time well spent? Some students love art and could take 2 months finishing a project, others tend to finish it the day we start. One of my main goals as an art teacher is to encourage my faster students to slow down and take their time. If a student rushes through a project and does not complete it to the best of their ability, I will not hang it in the hallway.
I hope that this clears up any confusion. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email.
